Meet Zahura Begum, Junior School librarian
Zahura Begum was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh and is the new Junior School librarian at the Aga Khan Academy Dhaka. Zahura secured her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in information science and library management at the University of Dhaka.
Zahura aspires to achieve the mission and vision of the Aga Khan Academies by evaluating and selecting age-appropriate resources that support the Primary Years Programme (PYP) curriculum and making optimal use of these resources for exhibitions, displays and other events.
“Providing necessary resources and planning activities that support the PYP curriculum will enable students to become lifelong learners, problem solvers and responsible citizens,” Zahura said. “I aim to create awareness among the school community about academic integrity by using the resources and facilities offered by the Academy.”
Zahura loves the Maidan; it is her favourite space on campus.
“The Maidan brings colour, life and inspiration to the Academy,” Zahura said. “I also love the mesmerising broad blue sky and the pitter-patter of raindrops that can be seen through the circular glass rooffrom the library.”
